Getting around

Buckhead Drive Times, MARTA and PATH400

The short answer

From Buckhead you can drive, ride MARTA or, along GA 400, use the PATH400 greenway. The board below gives no-traffic OSRM drive estimates from each buyer area to fixed destinations. On MARTA, Buckhead station is on the Red Line, Lenox on the Gold Line and Lindbergh Center on both, and MARTA publishes an average train time to the airport from each station.

Commute is often what decides between two parts of Buckhead. Start with the drive-time board, then check the MARTA lines and PATH400 if you would rather not drive.

Pick the part of Buckhead you are leaving from. Every row is a route estimate from that area’s centre point to a fixed destination, with no traffic, rounded to the nearest five minutes. Rush hour on GA 400 and I-75 will be longer.

How to read the drive-time board

Pick the area you would live in. Each row is a route estimate from that area’s centre point to a fixed destination, from Midtown and Downtown to Perimeter Center and the airport. The times are OSRM estimates on OpenStreetMap roads with no traffic, no signals and no time of day, rounded to five minutes.

Use the board to compare areas with each other, not to plan a morning. Real trips take longer, and how much longer depends on when you travel. If one route matters to you, drive it at the hour you would make it before you offer. Each area has its own guide with its streets and stations; which area fits you links all seven.

MARTA rail in Buckhead

Three MARTA rail stations serve Buckhead, and they are not all on the same line. Buyers mix this up more than anything else on this page.

The three stations

  • MARTA's Buckhead Station is on the Red Line. It is built between the northbound and southbound lanes of GA 400 and has no parking. Riders enter by a pedestrian bridge at the north end of the concourse or from entrances on Peachtree Road. MARTA, checked 2026-10-19
  • MARTA's Lenox Station is on the Gold Line, and the Lenox shopping center is across the street. MARTA says long-term parking at Lenox is temporarily unavailable. MARTA, checked 2026-10-19
  • MARTA's Lindbergh Center is on both the Red and Gold Lines. It is the transfer point between the North Springs (Red Line) and Doraville (Gold Line) branches, and it has local and regional bus connections. MARTA, checked 2026-10-19

Riding between Buckhead and Lenox

North of Lindbergh Center the two lines split. The Red Line (toward North Springs) serves Buckhead Station and then Medical Center. The Gold Line (toward Doraville) serves Lenox and then Brookhaven/Oglethorpe. To ride between Buckhead Station and Lenox Station, you change trains at Lindbergh. (MARTA, checked 2026-10-19)

So Buckhead station and Lenox station are on different branches. To get from one to the other by train, you ride south to Lindbergh Center and change. For trips toward Midtown and Downtown, both lines run through Lindbergh.

MARTA's Arts Center station in Midtown is on the Red and Gold Lines. (MARTA, checked 2026-10-19)

Parking

Buckhead station has no parking. MARTA says long-term parking at Lenox is temporarily unavailable. If you plan to drive to a station, check MARTA’s station page first.

Nearby stations outside the City

Two stations people call Buckhead

  • Brookhaven/Oglethorpe station is on the Gold Line. MARTA gives its address as 4047 Peachtree Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30319, and the Census Geocoder places that address in the City of Brookhaven, DeKalb County, outside the City of Atlanta. MARTA, checked 2026-10-19
  • MARTA's Medical Center station is on the Red Line. MARTA lists three hospitals nearby: Northside, St. Joseph's, and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite. MARTA, checked 2026-10-19

Brookhaven/Oglethorpe and Medical Center are close to Buckhead, but they are not Buckhead stations. One sits in Brookhaven and the other in Sandy Springs, which is a useful reminder of how close the city lines run.

To the airport

MARTA's station list gives average train travel times to the Airport: 32 minutes from Buckhead, 30 minutes from Lenox and 26 minutes from Lindbergh. (MARTA, checked 2026-10-19)

Those are MARTA’s average train times. Add the time it takes you to reach the station.

Buses

MARTA runs bus Route 23, 'Peachtree Road / Buckhead'. Its service notices mention trips from Arts Center Station and from Chamblee and Brookhaven stations. (MARTA, checked 2026-10-19)

Walking to a station

Estimated walking routes on the OpenStreetMap foot network: Lindbergh Center station is about 0.2 mi from the Lindbergh area point and about 1.1 mi from Garden Hills Park. Buckhead station is about 1.0 mi from the Buckhead Village point. The Tuxedo Road, Chastain Park and Mount Paran points are each 2.5 mi or more on foot from the nearest MARTA rail station. (OpenStreetMap routing (OSRM), checked 2026-10-19)

Only the Lindbergh area point is a short walk from a station. From most of the residential areas, plan on driving, cycling or a bus to reach the train. Check the walk from the exact address on a map before you count on it.

PATH400

PATH400

  • Livable Buckhead says PATH400 follows the spine of GA 400 and, once complete, will be a 5.2-mile greenway for cyclists and pedestrians through Buckhead. It is meant to connect eventually with the Atlanta Beltline to the south and with trails in Sandy Springs and north Fulton County. Livable Buckhead, checked 2026-10-19
  • Livable Buckhead says PATH400 is open. It leads the project with the Buckhead Community Improvement District and the PATH Foundation. Livable Buckhead, checked 2026-10-19
  • The PATH400 site calls the section from Wieuca Road to Loridans Drive the newest phase. PATH400, checked 2026-10-19

PATH400 is a planned 5.2-mile greenway, and Livable Buckhead says it is open. We could not confirm how many miles are finished, so check the PATH400 page for the section near the home you like.

Matching an area to how you travel

  • If you want to ride the train every day, look at the areas closest to a station on foot. The walking estimates above favor the Lindbergh area and the Peachtree Road corridor near Buckhead station.
  • If you fly often, note that all three Buckhead stations have a published MARTA average to the airport. Weigh how you would reach the station, since Buckhead station has no parking.
  • If you drive to work, pick your destination on the board and compare areas row by row. Then drive the route at your own hour.
  • If you walk or cycle for fun, look at the areas along GA 400 and check which PATH400 sections are open near them.

Test a commute before you offer

  1. Drive the route from the home to work at the hour you would really leave, on a weekday.
  2. Walk from the front door to the nearest station and time it, including any crossing of Peachtree Road or GA 400.
  3. Ride the train once, including a change at Lindbergh Center if your trip needs one.
  4. Check the current bus schedule on MARTA’s site if you would use Route 23 or another bus.
  5. Check station parking on MARTA’s station page before you count on it.

Once you have made the trip yourself, you have a better number than any estimate, including ours.
